PM Modi Arrives In Rome For Italy Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rome on the final leg of his five-nation tour, with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcoming him through a social media post and calling him “my friend”.

Modi reached Italy after visiting Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates. His arrival in Rome marks the final stop of the tour, which has focused on strengthening India’s global partnerships across Europe and the Gulf.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani received Modi at the airport. The Prime Minister also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora and later witnessed cultural performances organised in his honour.
Giorgia Meloni Welcomes Modi In Rome
Meloni shared a photo with Modi from the historic Colosseum in Rome and welcomed him to the Italian capital. The message once again drew attention to the friendly public rapport between the two leaders, often referred to online through the “Melodi” trend.
The visit comes at a time when India and Italy are working to expand cooperation under the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029. The framework covers trade, investment, defence, security, clean energy, innovation, science and technology.
India-Italy Strategic Partnership
During the visit, Modi is expected to meet Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Meloni for talks on bilateral cooperation. Discussions are also expected to focus on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.
Modi is also scheduled to visit the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation in Rome, underlining India’s focus on multilateral cooperation and global food security.
