Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked By ₹3

Petrol and diesel prices were increased across India on Friday, with oil marketing companies raising retail rates by up to ₹3 per litre amid continued pressure from volatile global crude oil markets.

Petrol Diesel Price Hike In India

The latest revision came into effect immediately and marks a major fuel price increase after a long period of limited retail price movement. In Delhi, petrol now costs ₹97.77 per litre after a ₹3 hike, while diesel has risen to ₹90.67 per litre.

The increase comes at a time when global crude prices remain under pressure due to geopolitical tensions and concerns over supply stability. The hike is expected to directly affect daily commuters, transport operators and businesses dependent on fuel movement.

Fuel Rates In Metro Cities

Among major metro cities, Kolkata recorded one of the sharpest increases in petrol prices, with rates rising by ₹3.29 to ₹108.74 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is now priced at ₹106.68 per litre after a ₹3.14 increase.

Chennai saw petrol prices rise by ₹2.83 to ₹103.67 per litre. Diesel prices also moved higher, with Kolkata at ₹95.13 per litre, Mumbai at ₹93.14 per litre and Chennai at ₹95.25 per litre after the latest revision.

Crude Oil Volatility Drives Fuel Increase

The price increase comes as oil marketing companies face pressure from elevated international crude prices. Global energy markets have remained unstable due to supply risks and tensions in key oil shipping regions.

The fuel hike may also raise transport and logistics costs, which can gradually affect prices of goods and services. Consumers are likely to feel the impact most through higher commuting costs and possible increases in freight-linked expenses.
