Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Hours After Agreement: India

India on Saturday confirmed that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire agreement that was reached earlier in the day, further escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC). The confirmation came from Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who stated that Indian ground forces are maintaining high vigilance and have responded appropriately to the breach.

The ceasefire, which was expected to bring a temporary pause to days of hostilities and border unrest, has now effectively broken down within mere hours of its announcement. Misri’s remarks indicate that the situation on the ground remains volatile despite diplomatic efforts to restore calm.

Pakistan Ceasefire Breach

Pakistan has violated the ceasefire which was agreed upon earlier today,” Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed during a press briefing. He assured that Indian armed forces are on alert and responding in real-time to any firing or provocation from across the border.

The nature of the violation has not been officially detailed, but sources suggest it involved small arms fire and unprovoked shelling in multiple sectors along the LoC. The Indian Army is said to have retaliated proportionately to safeguard forward posts and civilian areas.

India Responds to Ceasefire Violation

Misri emphasized that Indian troops remain committed to defending national security and territorial integrity. “The ground forces are vigilant and the armed forces are responding to the firing appropriately,” he added.

The breach comes amid heightened military operations under Operation Sindoor, which was launched to counter growing aerial threats and infiltration attempts along India’s western border. Drone sightings, terrorist attacks, and multiple blackouts across Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Gujarat have already kept the country on high alert.

Strategic Tensions Escalate

This latest violation by Pakistan not only undermines the credibility of the ceasefire but also signals that elements across the border may be operating with the intent to derail any path to stability. With multiple flashpoints active, including the recent attack in Nagrota and drone incursions in Kutch, the ceasefire breach reinforces India’s position that Pakistan cannot be trusted to honor its own commitments.

As the situation unfolds, Indian defence and diplomatic establishments are expected to issue further statements. For now, the fragile truce lies in tatters, and the armed forces remain on standby for any escalation.
