Nitin Gadkari Reviews Key Highway Projects in Assam, Sikkim, Mizoram
Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, chaired a comprehensive review meeting in Delhi to assess the progress of vital National Highway projects in Assam, Sikkim, and Mizoram. The meeting saw participation from key officials including Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union MoS Shri Ajay Tamta, and the Chief Ministers of Assam and Mizoram, alongside other senior representatives.
Boosting Assam’s Infrastructure Through National Highway Projects
In the meeting, Shri Gadkari reviewed the progress of 57 National Highway projects covering 1001 km in Assam. The discussions centered around accelerating the pace of infrastructure development, focusing on sustainability and cost-efficiency. The projects are expected to significantly improve regional connectivity, which in turn will drive economic growth and transform Assam’s infrastructure landscape. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a connected and prosperous Assam, ensuring long-term benefits for the state.
Accelerating Sikkim’s Connectivity
Shri Gadkari also evaluated the advancement of 21 National Highway projects in Sikkim, covering 309 km. With an emphasis on sustainability and efficiency, these projects aim to enhance connectivity across the state, unlocking new economic opportunities and supporting the state’s long-term development. Under PM Modi’s leadership, Sikkim’s highways are becoming key to reshaping the state’s future.
Infrastructure Development in Mizoram
In Mizoram, 24 National Highway projects spanning 572 km were also reviewed. The discussions focused on ensuring cost-efficient and sustainable infrastructure development. These projects are expected to improve connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and contribute to Mizoram’s overall transformation. Shri Gadkari emphasized the importance of expediting these projects to ensure faster progress and regional prosperity.
