Netanyahu Claims Strong India Support For Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel faces attempts at delegitimisation in many parts of the world but continues to receive strong public support from India.
Netanyahu Praises India-Israel Ties
Speaking at a conference in the West Bank, Netanyahu described India as a “huge power” and said Israel has a unique relationship with the country. He claimed there was “crazy support” and “crazy love” for Israel among Indians.
Netanyahu also said he believed he had more followers from India than from anywhere else. His remarks came as Israel continues to face global criticism over its military actions and regional conflicts.
India-Israel Strategic Partnership
India and Israel have expanded cooperation over the years in defence, technology, agriculture, cybersecurity and innovation. The relationship has grown stronger under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Netanyahu, with both leaders repeatedly highlighting close bilateral ties.
India has maintained diplomatic relations with Israel while also officially supporting a negotiated two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Israel Faces Global Criticism
Netanyahu’s remarks come at a time when Israel’s global image has been under pressure due to the war in Gaza and wider tensions in West Asia. Several countries and rights groups have criticised Israel’s military operations, while Israel has defended its actions as necessary for national security.
By highlighting Indian public support, Netanyahu appeared to argue that Israel is not internationally isolated despite growing criticism in other parts of the world.
