Myanmar Assures India On Security

Myanmar has assured India that its territory will not be allowed to be used for activities against India’s security interests, following high-level border security talks between the two countries in New Delhi.

Myanmar Assures India On Security

The assurance was given during the 23rd National-Level Meeting between India and Myanmar, where both sides reviewed the security situation along the shared border.

According to officials, Myanmar said it would not permit any activity from its soil that could harm India’s security interests. The assurance is significant because of India’s concerns over insurgent movement, cross-border activity and instability near the northeastern states.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace, stability and security along the India-Myanmar border.

India Myanmar Border Talks Held

The meeting focused on border management, security coordination and cooperation between agencies on both sides.

India has been closely monitoring developments in Myanmar because unrest across the border has affected communities in the Northeast and raised concerns over movement of armed groups, refugees and illegal networks.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen coordination and prevent the border region from being used for activities that could threaten either country’s interests.

Border Stability Remains Key Focus

India and Myanmar share a long land border across several northeastern states, making border stability central to New Delhi’s security planning.

The latest assurance comes amid India’s broader engagement with Myanmar on security, connectivity, trade and humanitarian concerns.

Officials said both countries would continue dialogue and coordination to manage border challenges and maintain stability in the region.
