Muslim Party Moves SC In Bhojshala Case
A Muslim party has approached the Supreme Court against the Madhya Pradesh High Court order declaring the disputed Bhojshala-Kamal Maula complex in Dhar as a temple and stopping the offering of namaz at the site.
Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Dispute Reaches Supreme Court
The plea challenges the High Court’s recent ruling on the long-running Bhojshala-Kamal Maula dispute. The disputed site in Dhar has been claimed by both Hindu and Muslim sides for years, with the case involving questions of religious character, worship rights and historical evidence.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court had declared the site to be a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, also referred to as Vagdevi. It also set aside the earlier arrangement that had allowed Muslims to offer namaz at the complex.
MP High Court Order On Bhojshala
The High Court order came after examining the findings of the Archaeological Survey of India and arguments from different parties. The court held that the site’s religious character supported the Hindu side’s claim and allowed daily worship by Hindus.
The ruling effectively ended the previous ASI arrangement under which Hindus were allowed to worship on Tuesdays while Muslims could offer Friday prayers. The decision triggered strong reactions from the Muslim side, which has now moved the Supreme Court.
Supreme Court Challenge On Namaz Rights
The petition before the Supreme Court is expected to raise issues related to worship rights, the interpretation of historical evidence and the legal handling of disputed religious sites.
The matter is likely to remain sensitive because it involves both religious sentiment and questions of heritage protection. The Supreme Court’s decision on listing and hearing the plea will determine the next stage of the legal battle.
