Mamata Banerjee Accuses BJP Of Targeting TMC

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has accused the BJP-led West Bengal government of using police action to weaken her party, after permission was denied for a TMC protest in Kolkata. Banerjee said the party would continue its political campaign despite the police refusal and challenged authorities to arrest her if they wanted.

Mamata Banerjee Targets BJP Over TMC Protest

The controversy began after police denied permission for a planned Trinamool Congress sit-in at Rani Rashmoni Avenue in Kolkata. The protest was called against alleged attacks on TMC leaders and workers, as well as other political issues raised by the party.

Banerjee alleged that the BJP was trying to break the TMC with the help of police and administrative pressure. She claimed party leaders and workers were being intimidated, but said Trinamool would not step back from its protest programme.

TMC Alleges Police Pressure In West Bengal

Banerjee’s remarks came amid rising political tensions in West Bengal following recent protests and incidents involving TMC leaders. The party has accused the BJP of creating an atmosphere of fear and using state machinery to target opposition voices.

The BJP has rejected such allegations in similar political confrontations, maintaining that law and order decisions are handled by the administration.

West Bengal Politics Sees Fresh Tension

The latest confrontation has added another flashpoint to Bengal’s already tense political climate. Banerjee, now leading the TMC from the opposition, has sought to frame the issue as an attack on democratic protest.

The dispute is likely to intensify the political contest between the BJP government and the Trinamool Congress, especially as both sides try to consolidate their workers after the recent change in power in the state.
