Telangana Plans Foreign Tours for Teachers
The Telangana government will sponsor annual foreign study tours for selected government school teachers, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced. The initiative is aimed at improving teaching standards by exposing educators to international practices.
Telangana Teachers to Study Abroad
Revanth Reddy said government teachers would receive overseas learning opportunities similar to the foreign exposure programmes offered to IAS and IPS officers.
The state government will bear the cost of the study tours. Participating teachers will examine classroom practices, teaching methods, school administration and education policies followed in other countries.
Countries previously identified for such visits include Finland, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam. Telangana has already sent a group of 25 teachers to Finland as part of its international teacher-development programme.
Foreign Study Tours Planned Annually
The government had earlier proposed selecting 500 teachers demonstrating exceptional teaching skills for overseas study tours. The latest announcement confirms that the programme will be organised every year.
Teachers selected for the initiative will be expected to use the knowledge acquired abroad to strengthen classroom instruction and improve educational outcomes in Telangana’s government schools.
The Chief Minister announced the decision while interacting with education representatives from Finland and Germany in Hyderabad.
Telangana Prepares Education Action Plan
Revanth Reddy directed officials to submit an action plan for the next academic year by December. Authorities have been asked to prepare the plan by treating every mandal as an educational cluster.
The Chief Minister said the government spends approximately ₹1.08 lakh on each student annually. He also reported that government schools had recorded about one lakh additional enrolments during the current academic year.
Telangana has introduced several measures intended to improve student attendance and learning conditions, including breakfast, midday meals and school uniforms.
The government has also proposed gradually increasing the share of education in the state Budget and upgrading infrastructure at government-run educational institutions.
