Mallikarjun Kharge Targets PM Modi Over Inflation
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his heatwave advisory, saying people are suffering not only from rising temperatures but also from inflation. His remarks came after the Prime Minister urged citizens to take precautions during extreme heat conditions across several parts of India.
Kharge Attacks PM Modi On Inflation
Kharge said people can endure the heat, but ordinary citizens are “sweating” because of what he called “BJP-sponsored inflation.” He also questioned why the Prime Minister does not speak about what the Congress describes as the government’s economic failures.
The Congress chief’s remarks were made in response to Modi’s public appeal asking people to stay safe during the ongoing heatwave.
PM Modi Issues Heatwave Advisory
Prime Minister Modi urged citizens to take maximum precautions as temperatures rise across many parts of the country. He advised people to stay hydrated, carry water while stepping out and look out for symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, headache and fatigue.
The Prime Minister also said children, elderly citizens and people working outdoors are especially vulnerable during extreme heat. He asked people to help others with water, ORS and shaded shelter if they show signs of heat exhaustion.
Congress Raises Price Rise Issue
The Congress has been repeatedly attacking the BJP-led government over inflation, fuel prices and the cost of essential goods. Kharge’s latest remarks seek to connect the heatwave advisory with the larger political debate over household expenses.
The exchange comes amid rising temperatures and continuing political friction between the ruling BJP and the Opposition over economic stress, public welfare and accountability.
