Maharashtra On High Alert For Heavy Rain

Maharashtra has been placed on high alert as heavy rain is expected to continue until July 8, 2026, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis warning of a possible cloudburst-like spell in parts of Nashik on Tuesday.

Maharashtra Heavy Rain Alert Till July 8

Fadnavis issued the warning after reviewing the flood situation at the State disaster management control room on Monday. He said the weather situation requires constant monitoring and urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel.

The Chief Minister said all agencies have been alerted as authorities deal with landslides, rising river levels, waterlogging and rescue operations across affected districts.

Nashik Cloudburst Warning And Flood Risk

The State is closely watching Nashik, where a cloudburst-like event is possible on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats and Raigad district has pushed several rivers above danger levels, including the Savitri river.

Officials said earlier desilting work helped prevent floodwaters from entering nearby towns. However, landslides and water accumulation have disrupted road movement in several areas, forcing authorities to restrict traffic where required.

Mumbai Pune Traffic And Palghar High Tide

Traffic on parts of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and old highway was affected after landslides and water accumulation made some stretches unsafe. Restoration work is underway, and commuters have been advised to travel only if necessary.

In Palghar, officials are monitoring the situation closely as another high tide could worsen waterlogging if heavy rain resumes.

The government said disaster response teams, local administrations and emergency agencies remain on alert. Citizens have been asked to follow official advisories, avoid flooded roads and stay away from landslide-prone areas until weather conditions improve.
