Lungi Ngidi Stable After IPL Head Injury

Delhi Capitals fast bowler Lungi Ngidi was taken to hospital after suffering a frightening head injury during the IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday.

Lungi Ngidi Injured During DC vs PBKS Match

Ngidi was injured while attempting to take a catch during Punjab Kings’ run chase. He misjudged a high ball from Priyansh Arya, fell backwards and hit the back of his head heavily on the ground.

Medical staff rushed onto the field as play was stopped. The South African pacer was treated on the ground before being stretchered off and taken away in an ambulance.

Delhi Capitals Pacer Taken To Hospital

Ngidi was reportedly placed in a neck brace as a precaution before being moved to hospital for further checks. The incident created tense scenes at the stadium, with players and fans visibly concerned.

IPL organisers later said Ngidi was stable and expected to be discharged soon. His condition eased immediate fears after the heavy fall, though head injuries in cricket remain a serious concern.

Concussion Substitute Used In IPL Match

Delhi Capitals were allowed to bring in Vipraj Nigam as a concussion substitute after Ngidi was ruled out of the match. The injury delayed play for several minutes before the game resumed.

Punjab Kings went on to chase down Delhi Capitals’ big total, winning by six wickets. However, Ngidi’s injury became the major talking point of the match, highlighting once again the importance of fast medical response and concussion protocols in modern cricket.
