Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala is also in contention and reportedly received the support of eight MLAs. V D Satheesan, who served as Leader of Opposition and was seen as a popular choice, is said to have the backing of six MLAs.
Congress High Command To Decide Kerala CM
The Congress Legislature Party has authorised party president Mallikarjun Kharge to nominate the next Chief Minister. Central observers held one-on-one meetings with MLAs, MPs and senior leaders before returning to New Delhi with their report.
UDF Allies Watch CM Decision Closely
UDF allies are also closely watching the leadership decision. Some alliance leaders have indicated support for Satheesan, while the Congress leadership is expected to balance MLA opinion, coalition concerns and party strategy before making the announcement.
