Jharkhand Students Form Team for Government Talks
Students and government job aspirants protesting against alleged recruitment examination irregularities in Jharkhand have formed an 11-member delegation to hold talks with the Hemant Soren government. The development comes after the Chief Minister offered dialogue to resolve the continuing agitation.
Jharkhand Students Form 11-Member Team
The delegation consists of eight students, two experts and one advocate. Protest representatives said the experts and advocate would mainly provide guidance during discussions, while students would directly present their demands before the government.
The protest began on July 25 at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium under the banner of the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch and has developed into a major student-led agitation in Jharkhand.
Students Demand JPSC Exam Cancellation
Protesters are demanding cancellation of the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination over alleged irregularities.
They have also sought an independent investigation into the recruitment examination controversy, either by the Central Bureau of Investigation or by a panel of retired High Court judges from outside Jharkhand.
Students are additionally demanding reforms in both the JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission to improve transparency in government recruitment examinations.
Hemant Soren Government Offers Talks
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said his government is open to discussions with the protesting students. The State government has maintained that the concerns raised by aspirants are being taken seriously.
The agitation has also reached the Jharkhand Assembly, where opposition legislators have demanded an investigation into the alleged examination irregularities.
Several protesters have meanwhile continued a hunger strike as pressure grows on the government to resolve the dispute.
