Iran Says It Hit US Airbase After Bandar Abbas Strike

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it targeted a US airbase on Thursday in retaliation for an American strike near Bandar Abbas airport, escalating tensions around the Strait of Hormuz as both sides traded warnings.

Iran Targets US Airbase In Retaliation

The IRGC said the strike was carried out at around 4:50 a.m. local time after what it described as US aggression near Bandar Abbas airport. Iranian media did not identify the US airbase that was targeted or provide immediate details on damage or casualties.

The Guards warned that any repeat of American military action would bring a “more decisive” response. Iran also said Washington would be responsible for the consequences of any further escalation.

US Strike Near Bandar Abbas Raises Tension

The latest exchange followed US military action against an Iranian site near Bandar Abbas. US officials said the target was linked to a threat against American forces and commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz.

The US also said it intercepted Iranian one-way attack drones in the area. Washington has described its recent actions as defensive, saying they were aimed at protecting its forces and keeping maritime routes open.

Strait Of Hormuz Remains In Focus

The confrontation has renewed concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route. Any disruption in the area can affect oil movement, shipping insurance and international fuel prices.

The latest developments come amid continuing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and prevent the conflict from spreading further across the Gulf region. However, the retaliatory strike and fresh warnings from Iran show that the situation remains highly fragile.
