Infosys CEO Rules Out Layoffs Amid AI Shift
Infosys CEO Salil Parekh has ruled out layoffs despite rapid changes in the IT services industry due to artificial intelligence, saying the company will focus on hiring, reskilling and AI-led growth.
Infosys AI Growth Strategy
Parekh said artificial intelligence is expected to expand the scope of work rather than reduce jobs at Infosys. He said the company has not carried out layoffs in the past year and does not expect any such move ahead.
The statement comes at a time when several technology and IT services firms are restructuring their workforce as automation changes software development, support services and enterprise technology operations.
Infosys Freshers Hiring Plan
Infosys plans to continue campus hiring at scale and is expected to onboard around 20,000 fresh graduates this year. Parekh said entry-level roles will evolve as AI becomes more widely used, but the company will continue investing in young talent.
The focus will be on training employees for AI-enabled delivery, newer technologies and changing client requirements. Infosys is also using AI across services to improve productivity and support enterprise transformation.
Salil Parekh On AI And Jobs
Parekh said AI will be a major growth driver for Infosys as clients look for faster, more efficient and technology-led business transformation. He added that the company is moving quickly to build capabilities around AI adoption.
The remarks come as India’s IT sector faces pressure from weak demand, cautious client spending and automation-led changes. Infosys’ position signals a hiring-and-reskilling approach rather than a job-cut strategy as AI reshapes the industry.
