India-US Trade Deal Nears Final Stage – Sergio Gor
The proposed India-US trade deal is nearing conclusion, with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor saying only a few unresolved issues remain after nearly 18 months of negotiations between the two countries.

Sergio Gor said the trade agreement between India and the United States is in its final phase, with most of the deal already completed. Speaking at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum Leadership Summit, he said both sides were now working through the last remaining points.
According to Gor, only the final one per cent of the agreement remains to be concluded. He expressed confidence that the deal would be sealed soon and said he was determined to bring the negotiations to a close.
Sergio Gor On Trade Negotiations
The US envoy said the proposed agreement would benefit both countries and provide a stronger framework for bilateral commerce. He noted that trade ties between India and the United States have developed over many years, and the latest negotiations are aimed at creating a more predictable and mutually beneficial arrangement.
Gor also referred to the strong personal equation between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying it had helped drive momentum in the broader India-US relationship.
India US Strategic Partnership
Beyond trade, Gor highlighted the wider strategic partnership between New Delhi and Washington. He said President Trump continues to remember his previous visit to India fondly and indicated that another visit could take place in the future.
The ambassador also said Quad foreign ministers are expected to meet in the Philippines in about two weeks, underlining continued cooperation between India, the US and other partners in the Indo-Pacific.
