India Slams Pakistan Over Kashmir at UN
India has sharply rejected Pakistan’s remarks on Jammu and Kashmir at the United Nations, accusing Islamabad of using the issue to distract attention from domestic unrest, military dominance over civilian governments and its alleged support for cross-border terrorism.
India Hits Back at Pakistan at United Nations
Exercising India’s Right of Reply during a UN General Assembly Third Committee meeting, First Secretary Bhavika Mangalanandan said Pakistan’s civilian governments rarely complete their terms and alleged that they function at the mercy of the country’s military establishment.
India also referred to former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s continued imprisonment and political developments surrounding his party while questioning Islamabad’s democratic credentials.
New Delhi categorically rejected Pakistan’s comments on Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India.
India Accuses Pakistan of Cross-Border Terrorism
Mangalanandan accused Pakistan of sponsoring, financing and facilitating cross-border terrorism against India for more than three decades.
She said Islamabad was attempting to divert international attention from domestic discontent by raising Kashmir and creating instability beyond its borders.
India also reiterated its position that the outstanding territorial issue concerns areas of Jammu and Kashmir currently under Pakistan’s control.
India Raises Unrest in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir
India referred to recent protests and unrest in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, accusing Pakistani authorities of using force against civilians demanding basic services and economic relief.
Mangalanandan contrasted the situation with the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, which were followed by the formation of an elected government.
She said repeated political claims about Kashmir could not alter the underlying facts and urged Pakistan to address its own political and economic challenges.
