Ukraine Praises India’s Russia Ceasefire Plan

Ukraine has confirmed that India is playing an active role in efforts to mediate a limited Russia-Ukraine ceasefire, with Kyiv describing New Delhi’s proposal as the most comprehensive among four initiatives currently under consideration.

Ukraine Praises India’s Ceasefire Proposal

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Kyiv has received ceasefire proposals from India, Turkey, Egypt and the United States.

He described India’s proposal as the most comprehensive of the four and said it marked the first time New Delhi had indicated readiness to take a more active role in mediation between Russia and Ukraine.

The diplomatic initiative focuses on practical steps that could reduce attacks while creating conditions for broader negotiations.

India Pushes Energy and Black Sea Truce

A major element of the discussions concerns a possible ceasefire covering energy infrastructure and shipping routes in the Black Sea.

Ukraine has indicated that it is prepared to consider halting attacks on energy facilities and supporting safer passage for commercial and agricultural shipping if Russia agrees to reciprocal measures.

The Black Sea remains critical to global grain and energy trade, while attacks on ports, shipping routes and energy facilities have intensified economic and humanitarian pressures.

Russia’s Response Key to India Mediation

The success of any proposed arrangement will depend heavily on Moscow’s willingness to accept reciprocal restrictions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to find a peaceful settlement, saying the Indian leader had offered constructive ideas for ending the conflict.

India has maintained communication with both Moscow and Kyiv throughout the war while consistently advocating dialogue and diplomacy.
