India Rebukes Pakistan for Raising Kashmir Issue at UNSC
India sharply criticized Pakistan for raising the Kashmir issue during a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) debate on “Women Building Peace in a Changing Environment.”
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, delivered a forceful Right of Reply, condemning Pakistan’s actions as a “despicable and mischievous provocation.”
Accusations of Misinformation
India accused Pakistan of using its usual tactic of spreading misinformation and disinformation, stating that Pakistan’s attempt to discuss Jammu and Kashmir in this forum was inappropriate and politically motivated. Mr. Harish remarked that it was “entirely predictable” for Pakistan to indulge in such actions, calling their approach misguided and unsuitable for the important annual debate focused on peace.
India Calls Out Political Propaganda
India emphasized that the debate was not the right platform for political propaganda and reiterated that Pakistan’s focus on the Kashmir issue had no place in discussions aimed at women and peacebuilding. India’s representative reaffirmed that such actions were part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to mislead the international community.
The UNSC debate provided a stage for countries to discuss critical global issues, but India’s strong rebuttal highlighted its stance against Pakistan’s continued attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue.
