India Exports Pinaka Weapon Systems to Armenia

India has commenced the export of its indigenously developed Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers to Armenia, signaling a major milestone in its defense manufacturing and export ambitions.

The move reflects India’s growing role as a global defense supplier, with the Pinaka system being a testament to its advanced technological capabilities.

Strengthening Defense Ties with Armenia

Armenia, which has been strengthening its defense capabilities amid regional challenges, has received the initial consignment of Pinaka systems. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and produced by Indian defense manufacturers, the system is known for its precision and effectiveness in delivering artillery fire over extended ranges.

This marks the continuation of defense cooperation between the two nations, following India’s earlier export of other defense equipment to Armenia.

Boost to India’s Defense Export Program

The export of the Pinaka system underscores India’s growing prowess in the global defense market. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of becoming a significant arms exporter under the “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” programs.

India has been focusing on increasing its defense exports, targeting a fivefold growth by 2025. The sale of high-tech systems like Pinaka not only contributes to achieving this goal but also strengthens India’s geopolitical ties with partner nations.

Advanced Features of the Pinaka System

The Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher is capable of firing a salvo of 12 rockets in 44 seconds, making it a highly effective system for neutralizing targets at a range of up to 75 kilometers. Its mobility and rapid deployment capabilities make it a valuable addition to any arsenal.

The successful export of the Pinaka system to Armenia marks a significant leap in India’s defense diplomacy and reinforces its position as a trusted supplier of advanced military systems.
