India Crush Bangladesh by Seven Wickets in Dominant T20I Win
India 132-3 (Pandya 39no) beat Bangladesh 127 (Mehidy 35) by 7 wickets
1st T20I, Gwalior
Team India secured a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the first T20I at Gwalior on Sunday, finishing the chase with 49 balls to spare. This triumph marks India’s biggest win in terms of balls remaining in a chase exceeding 100 runs. The victory was powered by explosive performances from Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and a stellar bowling effort led by Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh.
India’s Bowlers Shine as Bangladesh Stumbles
Bangladesh, opting to bat first, struggled against India’s formidable bowling attack, getting bowled out for just 127 runs. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, making a comeback to the team after three years, picked up three wickets, conceding only 18 runs in his four overs. Arshdeep Singh also claimed three crucial wickets, dismantling the Bangladesh batting lineup early.
Debutant Mayank Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and off-spinner Washington Sundar contributed with one wicket each. Despite the collapse, Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a fighting knock, scoring an unbeaten 35 at number 7, helping Bangladesh recover from a precarious 57/5 in the 10th over. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto added 27 runs but failed to steady the innings.
Hardik and Suryakumar Lead India’s Chase
India’s chase was marked by aggressive intent from the start. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav set the tone with a brisk 29 off 14 balls, while opener Sanju Samson scored 29 off 19 deliveries. Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 39 off just 16 balls sealed the win in style as India raced to 128/3 in just 11.5 overs.
The Bangladesh bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batters, with only Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman managing to take wickets. India’s batting display ensured a comfortable win despite the relatively inexperienced lineup, which featured debutants Mayank Yadav and Nitish Reddy.
