Harshit Rana Added To India ODI Squad
Fast-bowling all-rounder Harshit Rana has been added to India’s squad for the third and final ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai. The move comes after Rana completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence and rejoined the national setup ahead of Saturday’s match.
Harshit Rana Added To India Squad
Rana has linked up with the Indian squad in Chennai and is available for selection for the final ODI of the three-match series. His return gives India another pace-bowling option as the team looks to test combinations and build depth in the 50-over format.
The 24-year-old had been out of action since suffering a knee injury during a warm-up match against South Africa before the T20 World Cup earlier this year. The injury ruled him out of the tournament, with Mohammed Siraj named as his replacement.
India Vs Afghanistan Final ODI
India have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series after wins in Dharamsala and Lucknow. The third ODI in Chennai will give the team management another chance to assess players ahead of a busy international calendar.
With the series secured, India may look at workload management and squad rotation while giving opportunities to players returning from injury or pushing for a longer run in the format.
Harshit Rana ODI Return
Rana last played for India during the white-ball series against New Zealand before the T20 World Cup. In the final ODI of that series, he made an impact with both bat and ball, scoring a half-century from the lower order and taking three wickets.
Across 14 ODIs, Rana has taken 26 wickets at an average of 27.38. His return strengthens India’s pace options and adds batting depth lower down the order.
