Tamim Iqbal Says Bangladesh Mishandled T20 World Cup Pull-Out

Former Bangladesh captain and interim Bangladesh Cricket Board president Tamim Iqbal has admitted that Bangladesh could have handled its T20 World Cup pull-out better, saying cricket should not have suffered due to off-field complications.

Tamim, who has moved into cricket administration after a heart attack ended his comeback plans, said his main focus is to improve facilities for players and repair the image of Bangladesh cricket.

He said Bangladesh cricket means a lot to the country’s people and that his aim is to restore pride in the national team setup.

Bangladesh T20 World Cup Pull-Out

Speaking about Bangladesh’s withdrawal from the T20 World Cup, Tamim said the situation could have been managed through more mature discussions. He said cricket should always come first and should not be damaged by external issues.

The pull-out had affected Bangladesh’s cricketing reputation and raised questions over communication and decision-making within the cricket board.

India-Bangladesh Cricket Relations

Tamim also expressed hope that India will travel to Bangladesh for their scheduled bilateral series later this year. He said he does not believe there are major issues between the two cricketing boards and added that any concerns can be resolved through dialogue.

He also praised Bangladesh’s fast-bowling progress and said the team must continue improving in Test cricket by building strength at home and overseas.
