Four Killed in PoK Blast Near Poonch LoC
Four people were killed in a powerful explosion near the Line of Control opposite Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on October 12, with Indian security sources describing them as Pakistani infiltrators, including an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba commander. However, separate reports from the Pakistan-administered side identified the deceased as local villagers.
Four Killed in Blast Near Krishna Ghati Sector
The explosion occurred in the Satwal-Naki area near Hajira, opposite the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch.
Indian security sources said the four men were attempting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir when they triggered a landmine or improvised explosive device.
One of those killed was identified by these sources as Muhammad Faizan, described as a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba operative. The others were named as Muhammad Ishtiaq, Muhammad Waqas and Muhammad Asim.
Conflicting Accounts Emerge Over Victims
The exact circumstances of the explosion remain unclear.
While Indian security reporting described the group as infiltrators, other accounts identified the dead as local residents who were laying water pipes when they accidentally triggered an explosive device.
Officials have not yet publicly established the precise sequence of events, making the infiltration claim contested at this stage.
Security Tightened Along Line of Control
Following the blast, Indian forces increased surveillance and security across the Krishna Ghati sector to guard against any possible infiltration attempt.
The Satwal-Naki route has previously been identified as a sensitive infiltration corridor.
Separately, Army personnel discovered two rusted landmines near the border fence in the Mendhar sector. Both were later destroyed in controlled explosions.
