The Election Commission of India has issued a detailed clarification amid controversy over reported differences within the poll panel, maintaining that key decisions on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls were approved unanimously by all three commissioners.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi met at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi on Saturday amid reports that the two commissioners had raised objections over several administrative and electoral-roll decisions.
The Commission said the original June 24, 2025 order launching the Special Intensive Revision exercise, along with subsequent schedules, received unanimous approval from the full Commission. It also said differences expressed during internal discussions should be distinguished from final institutional decisions.
EC Orders Review of ECINET System
The poll body announced a review of the ECINET platform by a committee headed by a Senior Deputy Election Commissioner and including an independent expert from an IIT or IIIT.
It also said future IT initiatives and digital platforms would undergo internal committee scrutiny before being placed before the full Commission for approval.
SIR Procedures and Deadlines Revised
The Commission clarified that concerns surrounding Form 6 and its additional declaration were linked specifically to the SIR process.
It also announced procedural changes aimed at improving internal functioning, including advance circulation of meeting agendas and formal recording of minutes.
Claims and objections deadlines under the SIR process were extended in Delhi and Maharashtra, while Booth Level Officers were directed to conduct house visits in certain cases where voters required additional documentation or verification.
