DMK Seeks Separate Lok Sabha Seating From Congress

The DMK has formally asked for a change in its Lok Sabha seating arrangement after its alliance with the Congress came to an end amid the Tamil Nadu government formation crisis. Party MP Kanimozhi wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, citing “changed political circumstances” after Congress chose to support Vijay’s TVK.

DMK Ends Lok Sabha Seating With Congress

Kanimozhi requested that DMK MPs be moved away from their current seats next to Congress members in the Lok Sabha. She said the political partnership with the Congress had ended, making the present seating arrangement inappropriate.

Congress Support For Vijay Triggers Rift

The rift widened after the Congress, which contested the Tamil Nadu Assembly election as part of the DMK-led coalition, decided to support actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in government formation talks. The move has angered the DMK and deepened tensions within the opposition camp.

Kanimozhi Writes To Om Birla

In her letter to Speaker Om Birla, Kanimozhi referred to the changed political situation and sought suitable changes for DMK MPs in the House. The request signals that the split is no longer limited to Tamil Nadu politics but has now reached Parliament.

INDIA Alliance Faces Fresh Strain

The DMK has 22 MPs and remains one of the larger constituents of the opposition INDIA bloc. Its break with the Congress could weaken opposition coordination in Parliament and create fresh uncertainty over future alliance arrangements ahead of national political battles.
