Biden Assures Peaceful Transition After Trump’s Election Win
Outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden has assured a smooth transfer of power to President-elect Donald Trump, following Trump’s victory over Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
Speaking on Thursday, Biden affirmed his commitment to “a peaceful and orderly transition” on January 20, 2025, adding that honoring the will of the people is central to democracy.
Praise for Kamala Harris and Democratic Campaign
In his first statement since the election outcome, Biden commended Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she gave her “whole heart and effort” to the campaign. Biden, who opted out of the 2024 race due to health concerns and age-related issues, emphasized Harris’s dedication to public service and expressed empathy for Democratic supporters feeling the loss.
