Post-poll violence erupted across West Bengal after the Assembly election results, leaving at least four people dead and dozens injured as BJP and TMC workers accused each other of attacks in several districts.

West Bengal Post-Poll Violence

Clashes were reported from multiple parts of the State after the election outcome triggered celebrations, protests and retaliatory attacks. Police said incidents of murder, assault, vandalism and arson were reported from several districts.

Party offices were also targeted in different areas, with both the BJP and the Trinamool Congress blaming each other for the violence. Security personnel were deployed in sensitive locations to prevent further escalation.

BJP And TMC Workers Killed

Among the reported deaths, a BJP worker was allegedly lynched in Howrah, while a TMC supporter was killed in Birbhum. Both parties blamed rival workers for the killings, though police are investigating the exact motive and sequence of events.

In Jalpaiguri, several BJP supporters were injured after a clash allegedly involving a defeated TMC candidate and his supporters. Police have registered cases and are probing videos and complaints linked to the incident.

Security Tightened Across Bengal

Fresh tension was also reported from Sandeshkhali, where clashes between rival groups injured security personnel. Reports said crude bombs and firearms were allegedly used in the violence, adding to concerns over law and order after the polls.

Authorities have increased deployment in affected areas and are monitoring political flashpoints. The violence has again brought Bengal’s long history of post-election clashes into focus, with pressure mounting on the administration to restore order quickly.
