BCCI Tightens IPL Reel Rules Over Security Fears
The BCCI has reportedly tightened its anti-corruption and security monitoring during IPL 2026, asking players and people around franchises to limit social media content that may reveal sensitive team information.
BCCI Cracks Down On IPL Reel Culture
The board has widened its vigilance beyond players and team officials to include family members, broadcasters and social media creators operating around IPL teams.
The move comes amid concern that videos, reels and behind-the-scenes posts from hotels, airports, buses and match venues could accidentally reveal team movements, dressing-room access, tactical discussions or selection hints.
IPL Players Asked To Limit Social Media Posts
Players have reportedly been told to reduce match-day posts and avoid sharing content just before or immediately after games. Family members of players have also been advised not to post pictures or videos during the tournament.
The BCCI has already intervened in at least one case involving an Indian cricketer who was asked to curb posts related to team travel and movement. Another player was earlier warned after promoting a video showing team accommodation details.
Broadcasters And Creators Under BCCI Watch
The restrictions also apply to people working around the tournament ecosystem. Reports said a former international cricketer working in a broadcast role was stopped from recording videos near the dugout during a tense match situation.
The BCCI’s anti-corruption unit is also monitoring domestic T20 leagues, where similar rules apply. The board is concerned that unauthorised access to team hotels and controlled areas may create integrity and security risks.
