30 Indian Truck Drivers Arrested In US

Thirty Indian nationals living illegally in the United States have been arrested for allegedly working as commercial truck drivers. The arrests were made during Operation Checkmate, an immigration enforcement drive carried out by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Arizona’s Yuma Sector between May 11 and May 15.

Indian Truck Drivers Arrested In US

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said 52 undocumented individuals were arrested during the operation. Among them, 36 were allegedly operating semi-trucks. Out of these 36 drivers, 30 were Indian nationals, while the others were from Mexico, El Salvador and Russia.

Officials said the drivers were working in commercial trucking despite not having valid immigration status in the United States. Some reportedly had commercial driver’s licences issued by different U.S. states, while others did not have any driving licence.

Operation Checkmate Targets Illegal Trucking

Operation Checkmate was conducted to identify undocumented migrants working in the commercial transport sector. Authorities said the operation focused on immigration violations involving semi-truck drivers moving through the Yuma Sector.

The arrests come amid increased U.S. scrutiny of foreign nationals working in regulated sectors without proper legal status. Commercial trucking has come under particular attention because of licensing, road safety and immigration compliance concerns.

Deportation Proceedings To Begin

The 30 Indian nationals are expected to face deportation proceedings under U.S. immigration law. Their identities have not been officially disclosed.

The case highlights growing enforcement action against undocumented migrants working in key transport jobs. It also comes at a time when illegal immigration and employment verification remain major political issues in the United States.
