Zelensky Vows to Keep Fighting as Ukraine Marks Independence Day
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed that Ukraine will continue to fight for its freedom and independence as the country marked its 34th Independence Day. He said Ukraine is “not a victim, it is a fighter,” underlining the nation’s determination to resist Russia’s invasion.
Push for Peace and Sovereignty
Zelensky called for a “just peace” based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and the will of its people. He emphasized that the country’s future must be decided by Ukrainians alone, adding that although victory is not yet secured, Ukraine will not lose its struggle for independence.
International Support
The Independence Day celebrations drew strong global backing. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced $1.5 billion in additional military aid and signaled possible Canadian troop involvement in future security arrangements. U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg also attended and was honored by Ukraine, reinforcing international solidarity with Kyiv.
