Xi Meets Pakistan PM Sharif In Beijing

Chinese President Xi Jinping met Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Beijing and praised the “unbreakable” friendship between the two countries. The meeting came during Sharif’s China visit and amid wider diplomatic efforts linked to regional tensions and the Iran conflict.

China Pakistan Strategic Ties Deepen

Xi said China and Pakistan share an “all-weather” strategic partnership built on decades of mutual support. He called for stronger cooperation in agriculture, industry, artificial intelligence, education and broader economic development.

Sharif described China and Pakistan as “iron brothers” and said the relationship remained central to Pakistan’s foreign policy. His visit follows a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral coordination.

CPEC Cooperation Remains Key Focus

The meeting also focused on deepening economic cooperation through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Both sides are expected to push for higher-quality development of CPEC projects, including infrastructure, energy and industrial cooperation.

Pakistani and Chinese companies also signed business cooperation agreements worth about $1.22 billion during Sharif’s visit, underlining Beijing’s continued economic role in Pakistan.

Iran Peace Efforts Discussed In Beijing

The talks took place as Pakistan has been involved in diplomatic efforts linked to the Iran conflict. Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir recently visited Tehran as part of wider mediation efforts.

Xi appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability. The meeting signals that China sees Islamabad as an important partner not only in economic cooperation, but also in regional diplomacy.
