Woman Killed in Random Times Square Stabbing
A woman was fatally shot by New York City police after allegedly carrying out two apparently random stabbings in Times Square, killing a 32-year-old woman and seriously injuring a 68-year-old man. Authorities said the incident was not believed to be terrorism-related.

The attack occurred near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue on August 31.
Police said the suspect first stabbed a 68-year-old man in the abdomen shortly after he exited the subway and was waiting to cross the street with his wife. She then allegedly approached a 32-year-old woman nearby and stabbed her in another apparently unprovoked attack.
Both victims were taken to hospital. The woman later died from her injuries, while the male victim was reported to be in stable condition.
NYPD Officers Fatally Shoot Knife-Wielding Suspect
The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Queens resident Pamela Cisneros, allegedly fled towards a police substation while carrying two knives.
Officers confronted her and repeatedly ordered her to drop the weapons. Police said negotiations continued for several minutes before officers deployed Tasers twice without successfully subduing her.
Two officers subsequently opened fire after authorities said Cisneros continued to pose an immediate threat. She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Times Square Attack Under Police Investigation
Police recovered two knives from the scene and said Cisneros had a documented mental health history.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said officers had prevented the attack from becoming even more serious.
The police shooting will undergo an internal investigation, while body-camera footage from the officers involved is expected to be released as part of the review.
