White House Says Trump-Xi Meeting Was Good

The White House said US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a “good” meeting in Beijing on Thursday, as both leaders discussed trade, Iran, global security and the future direction of US-China relations.

Trump Xi Meeting In Beijing

Trump met Xi during his state visit to China, marking a major diplomatic engagement between Washington and Beijing. The meeting was closely watched because relations between the two countries have remained tense over trade disputes, technology restrictions, Taiwan and wider strategic rivalry.

After the talks, the White House described the meeting as “good”, indicating that both sides had maintained a constructive tone despite unresolved differences.

US China Talks Focus On Iran And Trade

The talks also covered the Iran conflict, which has become a major concern for global energy security. The White House said both leaders agreed that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open and that Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.

Trade and economic cooperation were also central to the discussions. Trump has been pushing for improved access for US businesses, while China has sought a more stable framework for managing competition with Washington.

Xi Calls For Stable Relations

Xi called for a more stable relationship between the two countries and stressed the need to manage differences carefully. He also warned that sensitive issues, including Taiwan, could seriously affect bilateral ties if mishandled.

The Beijing meeting is expected to keep diplomatic channels open, though major disagreements remain. Both sides are likely to continue negotiations on trade, security and regional conflicts in the coming months.
