Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Gets India A Call-Up

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has earned his maiden India A call-up after the BCCI named the squad for the upcoming tri-series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A. Tilak Varma will captain the 15-member squad for the June assignment.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Named In India A Squad

Sooryavanshi has been rewarded after a strong IPL 2026 season, where he scored 440 runs in 11 matches. His selection marks another major step in his rapid rise through Indian cricket.

The young batter had earlier attracted national attention through age-group and domestic performances, including his early Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar and a standout century for India Under-19 against Australia.

Tilak Varma To Lead India A

Tilak Varma has been named captain of India A for the white-ball tri-series, while Riyan Parag will serve as vice-captain. The squad includes several promising young players who have impressed in domestic cricket and the IPL.

The India A squad includes Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh, Kumar Kushagra, Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj and Arshad Khan.

Sri Lanka Tri-Series Schedule

The tri-series will begin on June 9 and conclude on June 21. The white-ball matches will be played in Dambulla, while India A will later play two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Galle.

The BCCI said the squad for the red-ball fixtures will be announced separately. The tour is expected to provide India’s young players an important platform ahead of future senior-team transitions.
