Uttarakhand Border On Alert After Nihang March Call

Uttarakhand Police tightened security along key border points in Dehradun district after Nihang groups announced a march towards the state amid tensions linked to the Karnaprayag clash and the Nagrasu gurdwara standoff.

Uttarakhand Border Security Tightened

Security was increased at the Kulhal border in Vikasnagar, which connects Uttarakhand with Himachal Pradesh. Police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel were deployed at the checkpoint, while barricades were installed and vehicles entering the state were checked.

Authorities said the arrangements were made as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order. Officials also stepped up surveillance on routes connecting Dehradun with Himachal Pradesh, including Dakpathar bridge and the Dakpathar barrage area.

Nihang March Call Triggers Alert

The security alert followed a call by Nihang groups to move towards Uttarakhand after tensions over the Karnaprayag incident in Chamoli district. The earlier dispute reportedly began over vehicle parking and later escalated into violence, leading to arrests and protests.

The issue also led to a standoff at a gurdwara in Nagrasu, where Nihang members had demanded the release of those arrested. Authorities later said the situation at the religious site was resolved peacefully after talks.

Police Checking Across Dehradun Routes

Police teams intensified checking at inter-state and inter-district borders, along with major internal routes. People moving in suspicious circumstances were questioned and identity details were verified.

Senior officers were directed to personally monitor arrangements on the ground. Police officials said the checks were not aimed at any community or group, but were intended to prevent any escalation and protect public safety.

Public Urged To Avoid Rumours

Authorities appealed to citizens not to believe rumours and to report any suspicious activity immediately. Security agencies remained on alert, with strict vehicle checks and monitoring of movement into Uttarakhand.
