US Urges Citizens to Leave Iran Immediately
The United States has issued a fresh security alert urging American citizens in Iran to leave immediately and warning against travel to the country as tensions across West Asia continue to escalate. The advisory cautioned that flight cancellations, airspace closures and sudden travel disruptions could make departure increasingly difficult.
US Issues Highest-Level Iran Travel Warning
The latest alert reiterates Washington’s Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory for Iran. Americans currently in the country have been advised to closely monitor airports, airlines and border crossings while preparing to leave when safe options are available.
The US warned that procedures at Iran’s land borders could change with little notice, requiring travellers to check entry rules for neighbouring countries before attempting an overland departure.
Americans Warned of Rapid West Asia Escalation
The advisory comes amid heightened military tensions involving Iran, the United States and Iran-backed groups across the region.
Washington specifically highlighted recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, including threats to civilian airports, and warned that the wider military confrontation could escalate rapidly.
US citizens were advised to avoid demonstrations, large gatherings and areas with heavy security presence and to maintain a low profile around locations associated with American interests.
US Warns of Flight and Airspace Disruptions
Americans were also encouraged to register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive security alerts and facilitate emergency communication.
The US warned that Iran or groups supporting Tehran could potentially target American interests, businesses or institutions overseas. Travellers were advised to remain alert to changes in aviation and border conditions as regional tensions remain volatile.
