The State Department has not announced a general evacuation operation. Citizens were encouraged to follow local embassy alerts and enrol in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program for emergency updates.
Iran Tensions Threaten Regional Air Travel
The department warned travellers to prepare for flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures and other disruptions. Airlines could change schedules with limited notice if military activity expands.
Previous exchanges between Iran, the United States and their regional allies have affected commercial aviation and forced aircraft to avoid sensitive airspace. Restrictions can lengthen routes, increase operating costs and leave passengers stranded.
Travellers were advised to monitor airline schedules, airport operations and instructions from local authorities before beginning journeys.
Washington Considers Further Iran Strikes
US officials said Washington was considering another round of military strikes against Iran, potentially beginning over the weekend. President Donald Trump has warned that Tehran could be hit “very hard” following renewed attacks on American forces and commercial vessels.
Iran has threatened retaliation against US and Israeli facilities, including military bases hosted by countries across the region. Tehran has also warned that attacks on its energy infrastructure could trigger a wider response.
