US Launches Fresh Strikes On Iran

The United States has launched fresh strikes on Iran, saying the action was aimed at reducing threats to commercial shipping and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for international traffic.

US Launches Fresh Iran Strikes

The US military said additional strikes were carried out against Iranian targets after attacks on three cargo ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

US Central Command said the operation was intended to weaken Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the key waterway. Washington said it was holding Iran responsible for recent attacks on commercial shipping and civilian crews.

President Donald Trump said the latest strikes were in response to the previous day’s attacks on ships and warned that any further escalation would invite stronger action.

Strait Of Hormuz Tensions Rise

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy routes, making the latest escalation a major concern for global oil and shipping markets.

Iranian media reported strikes along Iran’s southern coast, including areas near Bandar Abbas, Konarak and Chabahar. Some reports said power supply was disrupted in parts of Chabahar before being restored.

The strikes came shortly after Trump said an interim agreement with Iran appeared to be over, casting uncertainty over future negotiations.

Iran Warns Of Retaliation

Iran has accused the US of violating international obligations and the ceasefire understanding between the two sides.

Iranian officials and state-linked outlets warned of retaliation, including possible action against US military positions in the region. Tehran has denied direct responsibility for some recent ship attacks but has maintained that it has a role in security arrangements around the Strait of Hormuz.

The escalation has increased concerns over a wider conflict in the Gulf, with energy markets, maritime trade and regional security under renewed pressure.
