US And Iran Exchange Fire Near Strait Of Hormuz

The United States and Iran exchanged fresh fire near the Strait of Hormuz, raising new concerns over regional security and the stability of a fragile ceasefire. The latest escalation involved Iranian drones, US strikes on coastal radar sites and missile attacks targeting areas linked to US military presence in the Gulf.

US Strikes Iranian Radar Sites Near Hormuz

The US military said it intercepted four Iranian attack drones that posed an immediate threat to maritime traffic near the Strait of Hormuz.

After the drone interception, American forces struck Iranian coastal surveillance and radar sites. Washington said the strikes were intended to limit Iran’s ability to target ships and threaten movement through one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.

Iran Launches Missiles Toward Gulf Bases

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it responded after US strikes hit Iranian positions. Tehran claimed it targeted enemy bases in the region, while US officials said seven ballistic missiles were fired toward Kuwait and Bahrain.

According to the US military, six missiles were intercepted and one failed to reach its target. No harm to American personnel was reported.

Hormuz Tensions Threaten Ceasefire Talks

The clash has added pressure to the ceasefire agreed earlier this year and complicated efforts to restart wider diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.

The Strait of Hormuz remains critical for global oil and gas movement, making any military escalation in the area a concern for energy markets. The latest exchange also comes as both sides remain divided over sanctions, frozen funds and the future of nuclear-related negotiations.
