Two Killed in Telangana Pharma Reactor Blast

Two workers were killed and nine others injured after a reactor explosion triggered a fire at a pharmaceutical unit in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district late Friday night. The blast occurred while workers were changing shifts at the facility in Pochampally mandal.

Police said the explosion occurred on the night of August 21 and was followed by a fire inside the pharmaceutical unit.

Two workers died in the incident, while nine others sustained injuries. Emergency services and police personnel reached the site following the explosion and began rescue operations.

The injured workers were shifted to different hospitals for treatment.

Two Workers Suffer Severe Burn Injuries

Among the nine injured, two workers suffered burns covering more than 50% of their bodies and are receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Seven other workers sustained comparatively minor injuries.

The fire department subsequently brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading further across the industrial facility.

Cause of Telangana Pharma Blast Under Probe

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the reactor explosion.

Authorities are expected to examine operational procedures, equipment condition and industrial safety measures at the facility to determine what caused the blast.

The incident has once again brought attention to occupational and process-safety standards at pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing facilities, where reactor operations involve significant industrial risks.
