Trump Hints at Pre-Midterm Iran Strikes
US President Donald Trump has suggested that renewed American strikes on Iran could take place before the November midterm elections, while expressing confidence that Washington would “win” the conflict soon.
Trump Leaves Door Open to Iran Strikes
Asked whether US military action against Iran could resume before the midterm elections, Trump declined to rule out the possibility.
He said further strikes were “possible” but stopped short of providing a timeline, maintaining uncertainty over Washington’s next military move.
Trump also said he expected the United States to prevail in the conflict “very soon”, linking an end to hostilities with a potential sharp decline in global oil prices.
Iran Nuclear Programme Remains Core US Demand
Trump reiterated that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon remains the central objective of US policy.
Washington has maintained military and economic pressure on Tehran while rejecting Iran’s latest ceasefire proposal, which sought sanctions relief, access to frozen funds and concessions linked to reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump also claimed Iran’s economy had been severely damaged by the conflict and sanctions, pointing to the collapse of the Iranian currency and surging domestic prices.
Iran Warns It Is Ready for Wider War
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran remained prepared for diplomacy but was also ready to defend itself against renewed American attacks.
He warned that Iran was prepared for what he described as a “doomsday war” if Washington chose further military escalation.
The latest exchange comes as diplomatic efforts remain stalled and tensions across the Middle East continue to affect global energy markets and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
