Trump And Putin Discuss Iran And Ukraine

US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call lasting more than 90 minutes, with discussions focused on the Iran conflict, the Persian Gulf situation and the continuing war in Ukraine.

Trump Putin Call On Iran

The call was described as frank and businesslike, with both leaders paying close attention to developments involving Iran and the wider Persian Gulf region. Putin supported Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire with Iran, saying it could give negotiations a chance and help stabilise the situation.

However, Putin warned that any renewed military action by the US and Israel against Iran could have serious consequences not only for Iran and its neighbours, but also for the wider international community.

Iran Ceasefire And Diplomacy

Russia said it remained ready to support diplomatic efforts linked to the Middle East crisis. The discussion came at a sensitive moment, as Washington and Tehran remain under pressure to prevent the conflict from widening further.

The Iran issue has become a major point of global concern because of its potential impact on regional security, energy routes and international diplomacy.

Ukraine War Also Discussed

Trump and Putin also discussed the war in Ukraine, which began after Russia’s invasion in 2022. Putin briefed Trump on the battlefield situation and claimed Russian forces were holding the strategic initiative.

The leaders also discussed a possible ceasefire during Russia’s Victory Day celebrations on May 9. Putin said he was ready to declare a ceasefire for the period, while Trump reportedly supported the proposal.

The call reflects renewed direct engagement between Washington and Moscow at a time when both the Iran conflict and the Ukraine war remain key international flashpoints.
