Tarique Rahman To Take Oath As Bangladesh PM
Tarique Rahman, leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is set to take oath as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh following his party’s decisive electoral victory, marking a major political shift in the country after years of Awami League rule.
Tarique Rahman Oath Ceremony Venue And Timing
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Bangabhaban presidential palace in Dhaka. The event is scheduled for late afternoon local time and will be administered by the President of Bangladesh in accordance with constitutional procedure. Security arrangements have been heightened across the capital, with restricted access zones around key government buildings and diplomatic areas to manage the large turnout of political leaders, officials and foreign delegations.
Election Victory And Government Formation
The BNP secured a clear parliamentary majority in the national election, allowing Tarique Rahman to form the government without coalition dependency. The results signal a significant change in Bangladesh’s political landscape, ending the previous administration’s long tenure in power. Following the announcement of results, senior party leaders held consultations to finalise cabinet positions, with several experienced politicians and technocrats expected to be inducted into the first cabinet meeting shortly after the oath ceremony.
International Delegations And Attendees
Representatives from neighbouring countries, diplomats stationed in Dhaka and regional organisations are expected to attend the ceremony. Invitations were extended to South Asian leaders and key international partners, reflecting Bangladesh’s strategic importance in regional politics and trade. Foreign missions have confirmed participation at ambassadorial and ministerial levels, while security agencies are coordinating protocols for visiting delegations.
