Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Demands Fuel Price Hike Rollback

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has criticised the Centre over the latest petrol and diesel price hike, calling for an immediate rollback and accusing the Union government of increasing fuel rates soon after the conclusion of Assembly elections in five states.

Vijay Attacks Centre Over Fuel Price Hike

In his first major attack on the BJP-led central government after assuming office, Vijay questioned the timing of the fuel price increase. He alleged that the hike was delayed until after polling ended in five states and said the decision would directly burden ordinary citizens.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said the rise in petrol and diesel prices would affect transport costs, household budgets and the prices of essential goods.

Petrol And Diesel Price Increase Sparks Row

Fuel prices were raised by up to ₹3 per litre across several cities, with petrol and diesel becoming costlier for consumers already dealing with inflation and rising daily expenses.

Opposition leaders have criticised the move, arguing that the Centre should have absorbed the pressure instead of passing it on to the public. The timing of the hike has become a major political talking point because it came soon after the election process ended.

Tamil Nadu CM Seeks Immediate Rollback

Vijay demanded that the Centre withdraw the fuel price hike and take steps to protect the public from further cost escalation. He said fuel prices affect nearly every section of society because they influence commuting, logistics, agriculture and market prices.

The issue is likely to intensify political debate between the Tamil Nadu government and the Centre, especially as fuel costs remain a sensitive public concern across India.
