Tamil Nadu CM Says Governor Pressure Unprecedented

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said he is facing pressure from the state’s Governor R.N. Ravi that he described as unprecedented compared with previous chief ministers’ experiences. Stalin made the remarks during a debate in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, criticising the Governor’s conduct and its impact on the elected government.

Claims Of Interference

Stalin accused the Governor of acting against the interests of the state government instead of supporting welfare initiatives. He highlighted a recent incident when the Governor walked out of the Assembly without reading a prepared address, calling the move an insult to the constitutional post and a challenge to democratic norms.

Stalin Defends Government Record

While acknowledging challenges early in his tenure, Stalin said his government had delivered development and growth, and that people remained satisfied with its performance. He said differences of opinion between a state executive and the Governor are normal, but persistent actions he perceives as obstructionist are unusual and damaging.
