Trump midterm election campaign

The battle for control of the US Congress has intensified ahead of the November 3, 2026, midterm elections, with fresh opinion polls showing Democratic candidates ahead in several closely watched Senate contests. Surveys released on October 29 indicate competitive races in traditionally Republican states, while President Donald Trump and Democratic leaders intensify their campaigning during the final days before voting. Democrats Lead Senate Polls in Texas and Michigan New polling shows Democrat James Talarico receiving 49% support among likely voters in Texas, compared with 43% for Republican Ken Paxton. In Michigan, Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed leads Republican Mike Rogers by 49% to 42%. The findings represent important developments in two states where the Senate contests could influence the balance of power in Washington. However, polling represents voter preferences at the time of the surveys and does not establish election outcomes. Maine and Kansas Senate Races Remain Competitive In Kansas, Democrat Adam Hamilton leads incumbent Republican Senator Roger Marshall by 49% to 45%, while Maine Democrat Troy Jackson holds a similar 49% to 45% advantage over Republican Senator Susan Collins. Both differences fall within the surveys' margins of error, meaning neither race has a statistically clear leader. The results have drawn attention because Kansas has traditionally supported Republican candidates in federal elections. Trump and Democrats Intensify Midterm Campaigning Trump continued campaigning for Republican candidates while revising his final election schedule, including cancelling planned appearances in Kansas and Iowa. Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama has been campaigning for Democratic candidates in competitive states. The elections will determine control of all 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats, with the results potentially affecting Trump's legislative agenda during the remaining two years of his presidency. More than 44 million Americans had reportedly cast early ballots by October 29, reflecting substantial participation ahead of Election Day.
