Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged to continue serving the people of India until his last breath, responding to a political controversy triggered by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's recent remarks. Addressing a gathering at Bhildi in Gujarat's Banaskantha district on Friday, October 30, 2026, Modi reaffirmed his commitment to public service while accusing opposition parties of spreading misinformation during the ongoing West Asia conflict. Modi Responds to Mallikarjun Kharge's Remarks Modi's statement came days after Kharge's controversial remark, "Modi ka baap bhi jayega", sparked a political dispute between the BJP and Congress. The Prime Minister declared that he would remain dedicated to serving citizens throughout his life, emphasising his commitment to India's development. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also criticised Kharge's remarks, asserting that the Prime Minister continued to enjoy widespread public support. Modi Accuses Opposition of Spreading Shortage Rumours Modi alleged that opposition parties had attempted to create panic over fertiliser and LPG availability following the outbreak of the Iran conflict. He claimed that misleading information about potential shortages had caused unnecessary concern among farmers and households. The Prime Minister maintained that his government had protected farmers from rising international fertiliser prices through subsidies. He said farmers continued receiving urea at less than Rs 300 per bag despite international prices approaching Rs 3,000. PM-KISAN Funds Released During Gujarat Visit During the programme, Modi inaugurated the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre and launched development projects worth approximately Rs 14,000 crore. He also released more than Rs 18,000 crore under the 24th instalment of PM-KISAN, benefiting around 10 crore farmers. Modi said approximately Rs 4.5 lakh crore had been transferred to farmers through the scheme since its introduction in 2019. He also highlighted government expenditure on fertiliser subsidies, crop insurance and Minimum Support Price payments as examples of agricultural assistance.
