UAE investors have expressed interest in investing an additional $25 billion in India, potentially doubling their recent investment commitments as both countries deepen cooperation across energy, infrastructure, technology and financial services. UAE Investors Eye Another $25 Billion in India Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said UAE investors have already committed around $25 billion in India and have indicated plans for another $25 billion. The longer-term objective is to increase total UAE investment in India to around $100 billion. The UAE is currently among India’s major sources of foreign direct investment, with recent deals including large investments in banking and financial services. India-UAE Investment Talks Expand Across Sectors The two countries discussed opportunities in shipbuilding, ports, space technology, agricultural innovation, logistics, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, fintech and energy security. The talks were held during the 14th meeting of the India-UAE High-Level Joint Task Force on Investments, which also reviewed taxation, market access, trade facilitation and implementation issues related to the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Bilateral trade has doubled to around $100 billion since the trade agreement came into force. UAE Could Expand Energy Supplies to India India is also exploring greater energy cooperation with the UAE, including increased supplies of liquefied petroleum gas and other fuels. Goyal said a study is examining whether subsea pipelines could potentially transport and store gas in India, strengthening long-term energy security. Both sides are also working to expand the use of the Indian rupee and UAE dirham for bilateral trade, reducing dependence on third-country currencies for some transactions.
